About This Item
This one-of-a-kind Stand Collar Chinese Button Shirt is reconstructed from a vintage black haori kimono.
Subtle botanical motifs emerge across a deep black base, creating a quiet yet powerful presence. White-silver kimono fabric accents are strategically placed at the collar, cuffs, and button placket, heightening contrast and dimensional detail. The Chinese button closures introduce a distinctive cross-cultural tension — bridging heritage formality and contemporary street influence.
An upcycled statement piece that carries the story of its original textile. Impossible to replicate through mass production.

Craftsmanship
Every TATZU piece is meticulously crafted as a true one-of-a-kind garment.
The process begins in Japan, where carefully sourced vintage kimono are fully deconstructed and returned to their original fabric state. Each textile is washed and pressed to stabilize the material, minimizing shrinkage and preserving color integrity.
Patterns are then engineered with precision, considering motif flow, negative space, and composition. With the traditional kimono width of approximately 40cm in mind, each pattern is strategically placed before cutting.
Combining machine construction with detailed hand-finishing, every garment is assembled, refined, and inspected before being released to the world.
Through this process, vintage kimono are reborn as contemporary wearable art — singular, powerful, and impossible to replicate.
