About This Item

This one-of-a-kind Notch Lapel Jacket is reconstructed from multiple vintage kimono.

The outer body is structured in disciplined black, while the lining and pocket interiors boldly feature vibrant fabric from traditional Shichi-Go-San ceremonial kimono. When opened, flashes of vivid color and intricate Japanese motifs reveal a hidden intensity beneath the refined exterior.

Classic tailored notch lapel construction meets asymmetrical pattern placement and upcycled philosophy. The result is a garment where formality and street tension, stillness and motion, coexist within a single architectural silhouette.

More than clothing, it carries the history and narrative of its original textiles — a Remade Kimono art piece impossible to replicate through mass production.

Craftsmanship

Every TATZU piece is meticulously crafted as a true one-of-a-kind garment.

The process begins in Japan, where carefully sourced vintage kimono are fully deconstructed and returned to their original fabric state. Each textile is washed and pressed to stabilize the material, minimizing shrinkage and preserving color integrity.

Patterns are then engineered with precision, considering motif flow, negative space, and composition. With the traditional kimono width of approximately 40cm in mind, each pattern is strategically placed before cutting.

Combining machine construction with detailed hand-finishing, every garment is assembled, refined, and inspected before being released to the world.

Through this process, vintage kimono are reborn as contemporary wearable art — singular, powerful, and impossible to replicate.
